COVA Communities of Practice – Mission

Our COVA CoP mission is to enable its members to embrace the power of COVA + CSLE to shift to learner-centered approaches to teaching and learning that use technology as a catalyst for change. We believe in connecting with others to share ideas, resources, successes and failures to help build a strong network of professionals. It is through this connection that we can strengthen, rejuvenate and inspire teaching and learning today.

Our CoP leads are graduates from the Digital Learning and Leading Program at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX and work in a variety of roles in their organizational settings. As group, we write grants, books, conference proposals, articles for publication, co-present at conferences, collaborate and hold keynote sessions, online workshops, and blended learning labs. We also maintain the Facebook CoP group with over 300 members.

Learner’s Mindset Discussions (LMD) Connecting to CoP’s Ep 24. In this episode, we explore how connecting your work to a community of practice (CoP’s) can validate and reinforce your strategies. Connecting with others who have experienced what you are planning to do will not only save you time and effort it will enable you to build on their success.

What do our CoP’s do? All of us have a passion for learning, but what differentiates us is we believe in CSLE+COVA and giving learners autonomy over their learning. Our CoP’s have developed 9 videos as part of a STEM gift/grant awarded to our leads, contributed chapters to a co-authored book, co-present with the leads, and are moderators to the COVA CoP facebook group. Check out our active CoP leads and emails below. Reach out to us if you want to be part of this amazing group.
